Locate Clark Fork,
Idaho on your map, it is East of Sandpoint, Idaho on State Highway 200. Official route: In yellow on following
map. Better sign marks, but longer. - Proceed East on State Highway 200.
- After crossing into Montana,
take the Heron turnoff, which is Montana's first turnoff, about 3 miles from the Idaho/Montana State border.
- Follow
the signs to the Amber Bear Inn, which is located about 5 miles from State Highway 200. There is a sign at every turning
intersection pointing the direction to the Inn.
- At the end of Amber Bear Lane, you will see a pastel green Inn, with
an inviting wrap-around porch, situated in a scenic meadow, nestled at the base of Beaver Peak. Welcome to Amber Bear
Inn, your journey is complete.

Alternate route from Clark Fork. Lined in blue on
the map. - Eastbound traffic, turn
RIGHT (South) on Stephen Street (at the Cenex station).
- Stephen Street flows into the River Road.
- Follow the River Road for 10 miles to the Montana border (you will notice the road is significantly poorer
quality).
- Go another mile or so on
what is now called the Clark Fork road in Montana (the same road, just a different state).
- Turn right (South) onto Four Corners South road.
- Amber Bear is 3/4 mile further on.
