     Coming from the West

Locate Clark Fork, Idaho on your map, it is East of Sandpoint, Idaho on State Highway 200.

Official route: In yellow on following map.  Better sign marks, but longer.

  1. Proceed East on State Highway 200.
  2. After crossing into Montana, take the Heron turnoff, which is Montana's first turnoff, about 3 miles from the Idaho/Montana State border.
  3. Follow the signs to the Amber Bear Inn, which is located about 5 miles from State Highway 200.  There is a sign at every turning intersection pointing the direction to the Inn.
  4. At the end of Amber Bear Lane, you will see a pastel green Inn, with an inviting wrap-around porch, situated in a scenic meadow, nestled at the base of Beaver Peak.  Welcome to Amber Bear Inn, your journey is complete.

  2. Stephen Street flows into the River Road.
  3. Follow the River Road for 10 miles to the Montana border (you will notice the road is significantly poorer quality).
  4. Go another mile or so on what is now called the Clark Fork road in Montana (the same road, just a different state).
